You are accruing pension benefits through BeFrank, or have done so in the past. These pension assets are currently invested. When you retire, the investments will be sold, allowing you to purchase your pension. Your pension will be paid by a pension insurer. You can determine yourself to which pension insurer you transfer your accrued pension capital. About four weeks before your retirement date, you will receive a letter from BeFrank explaining the procedure related to your pension commencement and an estimate of the amount of the pension capital available on your retirement date.
You can use this data to request a proposal from us. These proposals are valid for a relatively short period of time. Approximately one month prior to your retirement date, you will receive a letter from BeFrank confirming the amount of your pension capital. You will then have a month to determine from which insurer you would like to purchase your pension.
COMPARE THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE
You would do well to start looking for a suitable pension insurer when your accrued pension capital is released. It is important that you first determine your personal financial situation and income requirements before exploring providers. You are also required to comply with the statutory provisions. For example, under Dutch law pension payments must be distributed until the beneficiary’s death and cannot be awarded as a lump sum. Moreover, discrepancies in the amount of the benefit may be substantial because insurers apply different interest rates and charge different fees. The amount of your pension benefit is determined based on the following three factors:
Interest rates
Insurance-related factors (e.g. mortality rate; this determines how long an insurer expects your life-long benefits to be paid out)
Fees and charges
